HR excellence in research
In 2017, the European Commission recognised the Â鶹¹û¶³ with the HR Excellence in Research Award and the Seal of Excellence.
°Õ³ó±ðÌýHR Excellence in ResearchÌý recognition represents our commitment to continuous improvement and the progress made in aligning our human resources strategies and policies with the 40 principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (the Charter and the Code).
The bring together a set of general principles and requirements for researchers as well as for employing and/or funding organisations.Their implementation by research institutions makes them more appealing to staff seeking a new employer or a host for their research project.
The ECÌýÌýsupports research institutions and funding organisations in implementing the Charter and the Code in their policies and practices, with the aim of contributing to the consolidation of a unifiedÌýÌýopen to the world, based on an internal market in which research personnel, scientific knowledge, and technology circulate freely.
The Ìýis a prestigious endorsement designed to support outstanding applicants for Marie SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), whose proposals show exceptional potential but cannot be funded from the current EC budget.
HR Excellence in Research strategy at Â鶹¹û¶³
The Â鶹¹û¶³ made a commitment to implement these standards in 2016. AÌýmultidisciplinary team led an internal analysis, with representatives of the governing bodies and researchers from all fields of knowledge. This GAP analysis resulted in the identification of areas for improvement and the definition of a tailored strategy for the implementation of the principles of the Charter and the Code (2017-2019 action plan).
During the implementation of this action plan, new objectives and areas for improvement were identified, as reflected in the interim review report and in the revised action plan (2019-2022). The interim review of the EC in 2019 had aÌýfavourable outcome.
The external evaluation, carried out between 2022 and 2023, obtained a favorable result, allowing the seal's accreditation to be renewed.

OTM-R strategy: open and transparent selection and recruitment
The research staff recruitment strategy is based on the principles of open, transparent, and merit-based (OTM-R) and internationally comparable selection and recruitment as defined in the Code.
The University recognises the need for research centres and other R&D&I units to be in a condition to recruit research staff in the most agile way possible, while incorporating selection and recruitment methods and best practices in accordance with current legislation.
HR Research assists and advises applicants as well as research centres and R&D&I units and services in the recruitment of research personnel.
