Student and accident insurance
Student insuranceÌý
Undergraduate, master’s or doctoral students under 28 years old:
- Nationals of countries in the European Union, the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway), and Switzerland.
- Refugees and stateless persons residing in the territories of the above countries
- Non-EU students who are residents.
Student insurance covers students who are under 28 years on official degrees in the event of a school accident, illness, or family misfortune. It will grant medical, pharmaceutical or economic services depending on the issue.
If you are sick or have an accident, you must go to the Spanish National Insurance Institute (INSS) with your enrolment slip (showing you have paid for student insurance) before you go to your health centre. If an emergency occurs, you can file the paperwork with the INSS afterwards.

Accident insurance for students
The Âé¶¹¹û¶³ has a free accident insurance, named Cum laude, for students. You can find information of its characteristics, coverage, and warranties at the followingÌý.
TheÌýCum laudeÌýinsurance may be voluntarily upgraded to Cum laude Plus, which offers more coverage for an additional cost of €10.70.

Accident insurance for staff and intern trainersÌý
Medical care for work accidents at the Âé¶¹¹û¶³ will be through the occupational accidents insurance provider FREMAP, which has its own assistance centres (open from Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 8.00 pm, in Pontevedra, Ourense and Vigo):
- FREMAP assistance centres in the Pontevedra province
- FREMAP assistance centres in the Ourense province
Âé¶¹¹û¶³ staff and training interns that suffer an accident at work must go directly to these centres, except in the event of a life threatening emergency, when they must go to the nearest health centre or hospital.ÌýThey must subsequently inform the Occupational Risk Prevention Service of the Âé¶¹¹û¶³.
FREMAP is not responsible for work accidents medical care for those included in the Special Social Security Scheme for civil servants: MUFACE/CLASES PASIVAS. MUFACE provides health care to its members through agreements with the Public Healthcare System and Healthcare Insurance Entities.

Sport and volunteering insuranceÌý
Everyone who participates in an activity or sport event organized by the university is insured with CHUBB for sports accidents that aren’t covered by the school insurance or the Cum laude insurance. In the event of an accident, call +34Ìý910Ìý84Ìý86Ìý35, state the insurance policy code (ESBSL227835) and explain what is happening to the insured person. They will be allocated to the associated health centre for that area according to the issue.
Everyone who participates in volunteering projects directly organized by the university is insured with MAPFRE for accidents that are not covered by the student insurance or the Cum laude insurance. In the event of an accident, MAPFRE must be notified as soon as possible by phoning +34 902 136 524, stating the policy holder code of the Âé¶¹¹û¶³ (055-0680117282).
