Research institutes
The university research institutes are a basic organisational structure of the scientific research, development, and technological innovation (R&D&I) activity of the Spanish public system, particularly its universities.

Institute of Agro-ecology and Food (IAA)
The IAA was established with the aim of becoming a reference centre for promoting the transition towards more resilient, sustainable, safe, and circular agri-food systems through R&D&I. Its mission is to promote an excellent interdisciplinary research environment capable of providing new knowledge and solutions that contribute to this transition process in a context marked by significant global changes, including climate change, while preserving biodiversity and contributing to sustainable development goals.

Institute of Physics and Aerospace Sciences (IFCAE)
This institute was created with the goal of being the driving force behind the Galician aerospace ecosystem and its synergies with emerging physics-based research. Its mission is to become a consolidated centre of reference in research and R&D transfer for the sector in the fields of physics, aerospace systems, and other related disciplines, connected to the most relevant national and international networks.

Research Institute in Sports Sciences (Cidega)
The Cidega was created to address the current challenges of physical activity, exercise and sport in society. Its mission is to generate high‑quality scientific knowledge and transfer it to society, the productive sector and the Galician region.
It adopts a multidisciplinary and innovative approach, conducting research and knowledge transfer in key areas such as education, health, sports performance, healthy habits, sports management, scientific evidence and professional ethics.
The institute also promotes the training of new research talent and fosters collaboration with companies, institutions and social stakeholders.

LINGUAÌýResearch Institute
The primary mission of LINGUA is to conduct research, foster scientific innovation and facilitate the transfer of knowledge in the fields of linguistics and language studies, with a focus on promoting a multidisciplinary approach and attracting talent. Its areas of focus include: internal linguistics and linguistic variation; society, ideology, and language policy; languages, cognition, and education; translation and interpreting; language and literature; language and accessibility; and digital humanities.

Institute of Justice and Gender (IXEX)
The Institute's purpose is to become a reference platform for the study of all aspects associated with gender, its treatment throughout history, and the changes that have occurred to reach the current situation, as well as to serve as a channel with various public and private actors involved in the structural, legal, and regulatory issues associated with gender from a multidisciplinary perspective.
